MR HARRINGAN'S PHONE

NETFLIX ACTIVATION

When David Miami contacted us about an upcoming Netflix horror film from the mind of Stephen King, we couldn't resist getting involved. ‘Mr Harrigan's Phone’ follows the story of Craig, a young boy who befriends his elderly neighbor who gives him a new phone. However, when the man dies, Craig discovers that the phone he possesses can communicate with his deceased neighbor from his grave. When Craig begins to receive crypt texts, he doesn't know what it means. Is his friend alive? Is he dead? You have to watch to find out!

We LOVED being a part of this activation! Through an interactive campaign, we approached "Mr Harrigan's Phone" with innovation, kicking it off with cryptic messages displayed on billboards in Times Square and Sunset Boulevard. To engage the public passing by, we sent AirDrop requests, prompting them to decode the hidden messages they were walking under.

"The billboard was already the main part of the idea of seeing these enigmatic messages, and we know the best way to multiply that effect is to put the billboard onto their phones,” said Ander Perez, an associate copywriter at David Miami who worked on the campaign. “We wanted to give people more and more hints to figure out what we were trying to say.”

Next, we hosted an existential event in Madison Square Park dubbed “Bury Your Phone.” We hired actors dressed as employees of Mr. Harrigan’s Burial Service and encouraged visitors to dispose of their old phones, which were properly “buried” [aka recycled]. Each donation received a phone death certificate with a free month of Netflix.

Engagements were through the roof, leaving everyone wanting to know more and heading to Netflix to watch ‘Mr. Harrigan’s Phone.’
